Families

With our families, we take a systems approach, by looking at the entire family system and how they do or do not work together to find the best method for guiding them.

  • Many times it seems like no one ever agrees, everything is a problem all the time, which becomes very stressful

We move forward together

  • Understand everyone’s needs and see how we can meet them as a whole

  • Learn communication skills together

  • Identify the problem and not simply focus on the person.

  • Focus on achievable solutions for the family unit

  • If necessary, identify generational traumas that complicate how everyone relates to each other

Children and Adolescents

Children and adolescents sometimes struggle with finding their voice in such a big world.

Symptoms we see include:

  • Uncontrollable anger

  • Shyness

  • Inability to identify their emotions

  • Feeling overwhelmed by schoolwork

  • Bullying

  • Difficulty talking to and/or relating to parents

  • Feelings of isolation and loneliness

  • Trouble related to development of sexuality and gender identity

Our goal is to help youth discover ways to understand their inside hurts and express them on the outside. We focus on the needs of the family while including the needs of the child/adolescent. We use a variety of techniques to inspire communication between staff, client, and parents to foster growth and understanding. This collaborative effort creates a team for the child to develop the skills to confront the challenges in their life.

Children and adolescents deserve a happy life, and therapy can help to

  • Improve self esteem

  • Build confidence

  • Develop effective and assertive communication skills

  • Understand boundaries, how to set them, and how to enforce them

  • Find ways to improve critical thinking skills

  • Have a safe space to express themselves while they learn

 How We Help

Individual Therapy and Family Therapy

Individual and family therapy is an opportunity for people to discuss those issues, circumstances, and situations that have disrupted their daily life. This is an experience with a neutral person where you have the opportunity to be as vulnerable as your comfort level allows. In a general sense, therapy is a process where talk is used as a way to understand a problem, develop insight, and learn strategies towards addressing the problem. Typically, a therapeutic session lasts from 45-50 minutes.

Diagnostic Testing

Many professionals use diagnostic testing as an opportunity to clarify symptoms for a diagnosis. We assist other professionals with this task by gathering history and collecting data through testing to provide the best interpretation of an individual.

Group Therapy

We provide psycho-educational material to those family members suffering from the indirect effects of addiction. These family members are taught about the disease of addiction and how it disrupts the family as a whole. This is a therapist led group, encouraging each member to share their experiences, thoughts and emotions developed because of this disease.

Sex Therapy

Is a form of therapy to help individuals/couples with sex and gender related issues. This can include trauma, education, sexual beliefs, identity, kinks (ex., fetishes), performance issues, and various dysfunctions. Sex therapy can be used with all ages, gender, and/or sexual orientations.
