Independent Psychological Associate (LPA)

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

When thinking about my “about me” page, I wondered what was the most important information you’d want to know. Are you most interested in my credentials? Do you want to know about me—the person? Before I started overthinking, I settled on a little bit of both.

So, let’s start with the technical stuff. I completed graduate school in 2011 earning my doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Over the years, I’ve done a variety of things in the mental health field. Mostly, I’ve done psychological testing, psychotherapy, and working with special needs adults. I love helping clients learn so rather than preferred diagnoses, my specialty is working on relationships. This includes the relationship with the self and relationships with others. After the ups and downs of working in facilities, my friend and I decided to branch out and open an office focused on good client care. And, from there Balance Beacon was born.

Now on to why you’re really here *wink*. I grew up as a military brat. Once we stopped moving, I soon began to learn the benefits of long-term friendships. This is when I became interested in people and how they relate. I spent the next bunch of years going to school to learn more about this. Things I love, anything and everything related to horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. I am also a sucker for learning about the universe (ex. black holes, solar systems, astrophysics). I’m a nerd, what can I say. What do I dislike…cucumbers, cold fries, bugs, and humidity. Most of my clients describe me as funny, relatable, realistic, perceptive, and collaborative. I approach therapy in a direct and supportive manner by being active in sessions to help my clients achieve their goals.
